She’s the voiceover artist turned actress who originally wanted to be a doctor and in her journey to further her career she found love in the Big Brother house. Meet Bam Bam.

When I was younger I wanted to be medical doctor because my mother was a nurse and I admired her – I liked seeing her in white, and she knew I always wanted to help kids. My mom encouraged me to become a medical doctor as a way to help kids and be just like her.

My parents were very protective of me so I really didn’t know that I had other skills besides being in the children’s choir and all of that, so my youth service was the first time I really mixed with people from different parts of the world. During my youth service, people said to me, ‘Bam, you sound so eloquent, you are very well spoken, have you considered TV, have you considered radio?’ I got the opportunity to do a voice-over job and it turned out really great and since then I got recommendations for different jobs.

Although I was busy with my NYSC Place of Primary Assignment, I continued as a voice-over artist and eventually, I started to grow in the entertainment industry in Abuja. Over time, I got recommended to host events and talk shows and each time, I killed it. This made me realise that I was really skilled in all these other areas, but one day I woke up and decided I wanted to act! I left Abuja for Lagos where I attended acting school, graduated as an actor and soon after, I auditioned for Big Brother.

Big Brother was a great platform for me to be seen by those who make great movies. That was the major reason, I went on to the show, to be seen, to showcase my talents as an actor and as a singer. And today, less than a year after the show, I am doing exactly that.

It was an experience of a lifetime. It was stressful, it was engaging, it was challenging. I got to find out things about myself that I didn’t know. I realised that I had tolerance and I was more understanding than I thought I was. I realised I had good people skills and of course, not everybody would like me. I understood Big Brother was a game and everyone just had to play accordingly.

I also fell in love on the show! Teddy is my first major relationship as I had never dated per se prior to dating him. So it was a whole new experience for me and from the start, he made it clear that he was dating someone so we thought it was just for the game and intended to go our separate ways after the show. But then, when we came out of the Big Brother house, we realised that we had fallen in love with each other and have been together ever since.

My biggest life lesson is never judge a book by its cover and never be deceived by first appearances. I’ve learnt patience, patience indeed is a virtue, and with patience you can achieve a whole lot.
