The annual 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair will be at Somerset House, London from 6 – 9 October 2016 will be showing 40 leading specialist galleries from 18 countries and more than 130 African diasporan artists.
Highlights of the special projects programme include the first major UK solo exhibition of late Malian photographer Malick Sidibé, new sculptures by Zak Ové in the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court and a presentation of The Arab Spring Notebook by artist Ibrahim El Salah
Four contemporary African artists – Maruice Mbikayi, Regi Bardavid, Pat Mautloa and Lizette Chirrime – will have their work presented at the fair by Nando’s – founded in Johannesburg with UK restaurants that house one of the largest contemporary Southern African art collections in the world – in collaboration with Yellowwoods Art.
1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair will also have their FORUM – the fair’s extensive talks and events programme curated by Koyo Kouoh. The FORUM explores architecture, urbanism, photography, contemporary art, fashion, object and furniture design with discussions, lectures and screenings.
