On Thursday, 30, 2017, Ghanaian reggae/dancehall and Afro-pop musician, Stonebwoy introduced his new album ‘Epistles Of Mama‘ to the media in Ghana inside the offices of his new management company, Zylofon Media.

Cuts from the album including two videos were played for the media to listen and give feedback.

Here are highlights from the listening session below:

The first song ‘Mama’ inspired the title of the album

Before the whole album was put together, Stonebwoy tried hard to figure out what the title of the album will be, how that can be easily related to. That was made easier when he recorded a song called ‘Mama’ afterwards based on the words of his late mother. He initially planned to call the album ‘Epistles of Motherhood’ but had to change it later to its current name.

The Album is in two parts

Epistles of Mama is a complete two CDs album – first CD has songs from reggae/dancehall genre and the second CD has songs from Afro-pop genre.

Both local & International musicians found their way on the album

Stonebwoy confirmed the names of the international musicians as Sean Paul, Chronixx, Pressure Busspipe, Agent Sasco, I-Octane, Burna Boy etc. while the local musicians include Sarkodie, Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Joey B, Yaa Pono, Kojo Funds, to name a few.

His Collaboration with Sean Paul is on the Afro-Beat side of the album.

This was the interesting part when Stonebwoy said his ‘Most Original’ song with Sean Paul is on the afro-beat side and not reggae/dancehall, however, explaining why it so, the versatile singer said he sees more similarities between dancehall and afro-beat hence, his decision to pull a surprise with Sean Paul.

The album goes online December 12 and launched at a concert on December 22.

Finally, ‘Epistles of Mama’ will be released online plus a major concert to launch it in December.

Stonebwoy is scheduled to be in London to hold similar listening session for the album.
