The 2017 edition of the annual S-Concert organized by Starr 103.5 FM, operated by Excellence In Broadcasting Network was held at the Accra Sports Stadium hosted by Giovan Caleb and Jason Ela with almost all the top acts including Samini, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Ebony, Edem, Joyce Blessings, Mr Eazi and upcoming ones.
In all, the show was a huge success drawing a massive crowd to the stadium to see their favourite stars rock the stage to thrill them throughout the night to the early hours of Saturday.
Here are highlights from the concert:
Budding acts were given the chance
Young acts with hits that are currently trending in Ghana including Kidi, Kuami Eugene, B4Bonah, Darko Vibes and more had their time to perform for the fans.
Major acts lived up to Expectation
The likes of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Edem did a great job on stage, moving the crowd to good rhythms during their performance.
Shatta Wale Slapped his Body Guard on Stage
No one knew what the bodyguard did but, what we saw was a ‘heavy’ slap given to him by his employer, Shatta Wale. In a viral video online, both Shatta Wale and the bodyguard have been spotted together in the studio few days after the show as if nothing had happened.
Shatta Wale’s refusal to leave stage for others to come
This part led to a whole lot of issues to which the organizers of the show came out with a statement apologizing to some of the acts who couldn’t perform and the fans.
Read the statement from the General Manager of EIB Network, Kwasi Anim Adjei below:
“At the 2017 edition of the annual S Concert event, some of our announced acts were not able to perform.
We regret this and take full responsibility. We would like to convey our sincere apologies to all concerned, especially Samini, Ebony and Mr Eazi.
We also would want to apologize to the teeming fans who came out in their numbers to support these acts.
The S Concert platform remains one for all and we are sad this happened particularly to some of our most revered local acts.
To the thousands who showed up at this year’s S Concert, we owe you so much for being part of yet another historic edition. See you all next year, for a bigger and better event”
Samini, Ebony and Mr Eazi couldn’t perform
Can you imagine, Mr Eazi flew all the way to Ghana only to sit at the backstage and not perform. One of the major acts, Samini expressed his frustration in a video he released shortly after the show, he asked organizers to put their house in order before the next edition and begged them to manage time very well. Whose fault was it? Some say, Shatta Wale, others are saying, organizers should be blamed.
