So it’s October and we’re all bugging out over the fact Summer in the UK is certified finished. But then Autumn needn’t be where wardrobes go to die (hello, trusted knitwear) – not when one can take the chance to level up one’s style with inspiration from the folks at the recent Afropunk Festival.

Here are 5 ways to nail October and turn heads like the festival attendees…

1. Dye, Baby, Dye!

Natural or faux, the way to do hair is dyed. Take a cue from these bold lovelies who brought old school Kelis vibes to the ground at Afropunk.

Oh and if you can’t choose between your natural hair colour and that brave new shade? Simply dye half your head and be bold with both hues.

2. Wear a Hat

In fact, wear two – just like this champ, spied wearing a stack of red wide brims and the swagger to pull it off.

If your hat stack’s too heavy for your head, simply wear one as a statement piece and carry the other as a spare on your back. Whatever way you wear it, it’ll just work.

3. Keep Your Jewellery Game Strong

Septums and chains were the way to accessories at Afropunk, with most rocking gold to the event.

If you can match your nose ring to your earrings or shades, there’s extra style points to score, else chokers are the thing to be seen in this season.

4. DIY Denim

And on the topic of chokers, why not derive one from an old pair of jeans? It’s the blogger way to nail the trend and a sure way to keep your style ‘unique’ yet on a budget.

Just make sure you fray the heck out of yours to keep the raw-hemmed trend alight.

5. Keep Kisses Dark

From purple and berry hues, to lips beaten black and blue, your pout should be the focal point of your beauty look, as evidenced at Afropunk.

Another incoming trend is found in brown lipstick – with a matching liner, if you’re thinking full-on 00s revival.
