In comparison to the Western world, Africa is not a continent that has embraced gays, let alone having a national plan for them.
Billionaire wife and Ex-model, Irene Major has taken it upon herself to start a new campaign that will create awareness for people with different sexual orientation (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and transgender) residing on the continent, her ultimate aim is for them to be accepted by their society without being treated differently.

This campaign which initially started as a “one woman against an entire continent” has surprisingly gathered support from international human rights bodies and activists like Amnesty International, Outright Action International, Keko, Elton John, Richard Branson etc. She was recently quoted to have said;

“Your religion may not support homosexuality, your society may not believe in it, but first we are humans and all humans are entitled to basic human rights … many of them have been denied jobs imprisoned, prosecuted or even killed for being themselves. Now that’s the issue we need to discuss.”

Ms Major definitely has a huge fight on her hands, even high profiled and well travelled law makers in Africa do not agree with her, and Obama’s speech during his 2015 visit to Kenya didn’t change their minds.

What are your thoughts on this campaign? Do you support the imprisonment, killings and deprivations of homosexuals in Africa? Let’s discuss!
