Before the arrival of the newest trailer for Black Is King, a visual album written, director and executive produced by Beyoncé, the pop icon teased the world with a surprise announcement last month.
The album is said to be a companion and continuation of The Lion King animated film which Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala. The Lion King became the toast of the world after it was released in 2019. Even more, when she accompanied it with an album titled The Lion King: The Gift. The album tapped musicians across different parts of the world.
But most of the musicians were from Africa, Beyoncé later said in an interview that the album was a love letter to Africa. And, that message has been received so well by her fans and music lovers who have listened to the album, classified it as the celebration of black excellence and placing the black culture on the map again.
In the latest trailer, more of the black cultures were exposed and shown, with features from British supermodel, Naomi Campbell, Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’o, hip-hop superstar and Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z.
According to reports, Black Is King was shot across different continents including West Africa, South Africa, London, Belgium, Los Angeles and New York. And, Disney is putting plans in place to stream the film across Africa in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Namibia, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Senegal, Togo and more.
