Black Biz Day is a challenge created by Diversity Forum Live to keep up the momentum and exposure that BLM has brought to black businesses these past months. The #BlackBizDay, which will take place on the 2nd day of every month (the monthiversary of #BlackOutTuesday) urges you to commit to spending more with black-owned businesses and service providers, as well as supporting more activities aimed at promoting black businesses during the month.

Business owners and customers from around the world, especially in the USA, UK, France, Germany, and South Africa, are all taking the challenge. Here’s how to take part:

On the 2nd day of the month (2nd July, 2nd August, etc.) you should

  • Publish a post on social media, and pledge to spend money on some black-owned businesses during the month
  • In your post, tag 5 or more people and challenge them to repost/make their own post with the same pledge, and remind them to tag 5 or more people as well to keep the chain going
  • Tag @alwaysstartwith [1million followers], @glamafricamag [42,000 followers], and @diversityforumlive on Instagram for the chance to be reshared, especially if you’re looking to promote yourself or your own business.

You can copy and paste these bullet points into your caption so the people you challenge next will know how it works. For the post itself, you can publish anything from a photo of yourself to a product/brand you love, a short video about why you think others should join the challenge, or use one of our square or long templates below.

Join us as we encourage the world to make supporting black businesses a way of life.
