Burna Boy performs in London

African musicians have had a soar in global appreciation of their crafts in recent years with notable stars emerging from the continent. Nigeria took the Afrobeat genre to the world with acts like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido cementing their place in artistic history.

In recent years the rise of the genre has seen Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems follow in the footsteps of legends like Angélique Kidjo in winning Grammy Awards, adding trophies to an already blossoming music careers.

Burna Boy began his “Love, Damini” album tour which took him to different venues in the United States, France and the United Kingdom. His London Stadium showdown even caught the eyes of the world when he filled up the over 60,000 capacity venue.

Burna Boy brought along international industry collaborators including Popcaan, Dave, Stormzy and Jhus to thrill thousands of fans in the stadium.

His successful attempt now places him on the historic list as the first-ever African musician to headline a show of that magnitude in London. Burna Boy is taking not just his Afro-fusion which is a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and hip-hop, to the world. He has also been nominated for the 2023 BET Awards in the following categories; Best International Act, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Video Director Director Of The Year and Viewer’s Choice Aawrd.
