Based on alarming statistics of child abuse in the various states of Nigeria, the Cece Yara Foundation has taken the initiative to launch an online directory called the SafeKids which will provide easily accessible and helpful services to all starting from Lagos.
SafeKids Directory is equipped with up-to-date information on police stations, State Child Protection Units, medical services, Sexual Assault Referral Centres, free legal services and mental health care that can be useful to parents or guardian to tap into for protection of the ward.
Recent reports have shown a rise in child sexual abuse with 1 in 4 girls, as well as 1 in 10 boys experiencing it before they reach the age of 18. The Cece Yara Foundation has been the light at the end of the tunnel for sexual abuse cases – fighting for the rights of children, non-offending families as well as amplifying societal prevention awareness via field and media initiatives.
A tour of the website revealed information on how to reports cases of child abuse, donate, and, volunteer to champion the cause.
