It was a night of Saris, Turbans, Bindis, and dazzling Afro-Indian luxury at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was colourful and majestic. The ball was aimed at raising funds for the Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria (DSFN) to put up housing and educational facilities for the children.
Tarun Tahiliani, a well-known Indian designer, hit the runway at the event with her Spring Summer 2015 collection. Tahiliani is a high-fashion brand with a view in the present moment, but ultimately much steeped in the Indian traditions of draped form and the techniques that millions of Indian craftspeople imbibe with love. The silhouettes combine western notions of cut, construct and finish but using Indian heritage and craftsmanship.
All I see is colour, culture, royalty and style. Congrats to the Beth Model Africa for hitting the runway. Each model looked stunning.
