We are proud to announce a major new exhibition in honour of 70-year old Ghanaian artist Professor Ato Delaquis, to exhibit breathtaking works of art with a twist of African Magic at 32 John Adam St, London WC2N 6BP from October 19-25, 2015.
From African Realism to Contemporary Modernist Classics
The exhibition is a celebration of great paintings, with twists of African Magic in honour of Professor Ato Delaquis, the great Ghanaian artist. Professor Delaquis has been a professional artist since his teenage years. Delaquis, who is now 70, built a house for his parents from the proceeds of his work as a cartoonist for the pan African Magazine, Drum, when he was in his teenage years. On the heels of a recent retrospective of his drawings (from the age of 17 to 50, at the National Museum in Accra), this is the first major exhibition of this great artist in London. The exhibition will feature new works by Prof Delaquis.
The celebration is ably supported by Anne Hemans-Blankson, Delaquis’ former student (recently featured in BBC1’s “The Painting Challenge”) and two greatly fascinating artists; Stephen Gwoktcho of Makerere University and Bruce Chidovori a professional artist resident in London
