One of the most cherished music genres from the continent of Africa is Afrobeat. The birth of the genre was made prominent by the late Nigeria multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer, Fela Kuti.
Such as an iconic figure in the Nigerian music industry, he showcased the genre to the world through his works and tours to different parts of the world. Today (August 2nd, 2019) marks exactly twenty-years since Africa lost the maestro of Afrobeat.
Fela Kuti’s legacy has been kept intact and his style of music is fused into the current songs released by the emerging musicians and already established ones. Names such as Wizkid and Burna Boy are frequently mentioned when the conversation of modern musicians who are holding the Afrobeat baton.
Felabration, a popular music show to celebrate the life of Fela Kuti was conceived by one of his daughters, Yeni Kuti, the UK edition is scheduled for August 30th, 2019, at Indigo at The O₂ spearheaded by Shalewa Kuti (Fela Kuti’s daughter) and DLA World. Click HERE for your tickets.

The Lagos edition of the celebration starts from Monday, 14 October to Sunday, 20 October.
