Technology is the engine of the future. The pace at which the world is constantly evolving around software, social media and automated equipment to make things easier for the human race has led to the set up of companies that will be able to provide and meet demands.
Each year, the MEST Africa challenge holds regional competitions to select winners for the MEST Africa Summit where each of the winners gets the chance to pitch their companies in front of leading global investors, corporate executives and speakers from Africa, Silicon Valley in the USA and Europe.
Four finalists from the regional competition comprised of Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa will head to Cape Town for the main Summit on June 20, 2018.
Here are the regional finalist and a brief description of their operations.
Cowtribe (Ghana) is a ussd-based technology that connects livestock farmers with veterinarians who can provide vaccinations. Cowtribe has shown great traction and has identified a market with high growth potential in Ghana and abroad
Accounteer (Nigeria) is a Saas company offering accounting and payroll management software tailored to the needs of African SMEs. With over 25 million SMEs operating in Sub-Saharan Africa, Accounteer has identified a significant opportunity.
Data Integrated (Kenya) is a payment processing company for the public transport industry in Kenya, offering tools and services for transport operators, stakeholders and other interest groups along the value chain.
Swift Vee Swift Vee is South Africa’s first livestock and agricultural trading platform. With a solid MVP in place, they are on the path to owning significant market share as this traditional marketplace shifts online.
