Hothair is a market leader in hair extensions, wigs and hair pieces and has gone from strength to strength over the last fifteen years including a spectacular launch in Selfridges, London. As the UK’s biggest supplier of faux hair, Hothair aims to empower women to have fabulous tresses and feel great. So when they decided to launch the Ebony Wig Collection – a range directed at their growing fan base of African Caribbean clients – we just had to get in on the action!

With such a big collection of looks, it was difficult to choose but I finally settled upon ‘The Candice’ which is an elegant and ultra-feminine layered style available in a variety of colours (including platinum grey for the trendy) and just now there is a 20% price drop on them too. Feeling adventurous led to my selection; since the Candice is exactly the opposite texture and style to my own hair.

Shipping was fast and I received the wig within three days, packaged beautifully (gift to self) and ready to wear. Hothair provides detailed instructional videos on the website which is very handy for novice wig wearers like myself. Following these, I cornrowed my own hair back very evenly so it wouldn’t create lumps and bumps beneath and to ensure that my (baby hair)line wouldn’t be visible. The wig has slides inside too so that you can confidently keep it secure all day long. I cannot stress enough, the importance of wearing a soft wig cap with this product though, otherwise, your natural hair will look and feel like hay when you’re done. Consider yourself warned…

And what a transformation! I love the completed look even though it is very obviously not my real hair. It doesn’t matter! The curls bounce beautifully, framing my face, and I feel super glamorous. Best of all my own hair is protected from the elements whilst I go about my day and slay. Candice is officially my brand new alter ego! And Hothair, you’ve certainly got the Glam Africa seal of approval!
