I used to be terrified of false eyelashes. The thought of glueing anything anywhere near my eye just seemed crazy to me and on top of that you see some of these women out here looking crazy with them on – like sis, are those two great big tarantulas sitting on your lids? No thanks. So as you can imagine, last week when I was charged with reviewing a set of KOL eyelashes, I felt slightly apprehensive. Could I really give them a fair shot with all my anti-falsies bias? I’d have to try…

KOL have a gorgeous collection of ten lash styles that come in luxury little boxes with the instructions on the underside and accessories sold separately. I selected the Celeste which caught my eye for its wispy yet not overly dramatic length. Like the rest, they retail at £22.00 and with care can be worn up to twenty times. These are 3D, handmade, 100% silk eyelashes that although appearing long and flared in the box, actually felt lightweight and feathery when I put them on. The extra fine fibres blended softly with my own lashes so within a short space of time I forgot that I was even wearing them. I’d believed I would be much more conscious of them throughout the day or that they might somehow impede my vision but I was wrong.

The secret to the application is putting mascara onto your own lashes and allowing them to dry before you apply your set of KOLs. That way, the new lashes can be placed comfortably and when pressed down, will fuse (temporarily) to the mascara product more than the lash hair itself. Genius!

Overall these lashes get ten out of ten for how super feminine they made me feel and I especially love how they looked on me in photographs of my first day in them. The best thing about the Celeste from this particular collection is that they can pass as natural lashes; people didn’t realise that I had them on at all, it only appeared as if I was extra naturally pretty which is very reassuring. Perfect for that day glamour that I sometimes need, I am fast becoming addicted! For a night on the town, I’d switch to the Zenobia or for a more fun and adventurous look I’d go with the Ursula. There are lots of choices still to explore…

So whether novice of veteran falsie-wearer, this line of lashes has something for you. Go see about KOL.
