Pop culture queen Bonang Matheba celebrated her birthday yesterday. Bonang is a multifaceted talented power house. She’s a TV presenter, OAP and a fashion influencer. Let’s lean back a bit and go back in time.
it’s awesome that we have such a vibrant and hardworking soul from the African continent in the media space.
Bonang made her TV debut at 15 years old, scoring a gig on the SABC 2 youth programme, Manhattan’s Fantasy Challenge. Referred to by many as South Africa’s “original it-girl,” Bonang became a household name after joining the SABC 1 music show LIVE, now known as Live Amp in 2007.
In 2009 Bonang got her first taste of radio when she landed a weekend spot on YFM, which was cleverly called “The B* Hive.”
Between 2008 – 2010, Bonang first dabbled in fashion, when she collaborated with Legit on a celebrity clothing range called “Just B.”
The successful partnership led to the fashionista teaming up with a London based designer for a line of handbags called, “Baby Star” the following year.
“Feeling sexy is a mindset. Being OK with myself, my body and just embracing my flaws allows me to feel the sexiest.”
This awesome quote is from the queen in 2014 when she announced an exciting partnership with retail giant Woolworths South Africa. The partnership saw Bonang collaborate with the retailer in her first lingerie line called “Distraction By Bonang.”
Ever since she has gone ahead to publish her book; ‘From A to B’, she’s also one of Africa’s entertainment personalities to feature in E!
Now guys, armed with this load of information, let’s see 10 times Bonang showed she’s the fashion queen over the years.
