The 2018 edition will go down in history as the most well organized and precisely executed show without major frustrating experiences. For the first time, the show was moved from its known ground of the Accra International Conference Centre to newly fancied venue, Fantasy Dome, situated inside the Ghana International Trade Fair Center in the same neighbourhood as Labadi Beach Hotel.
The venue is not hard to locate because it’s easily becoming the most preferred place for concert lovers, holding an estimated capacity of 40,000. So the main question prior to the show was, will Empire Ghana (Organizers of Ghana Meets Naija) be able to draw to huge numbers there to have an epic moment. The answer came right after we got to the venue to cover the show, we had our team members positioned in the media box for the main event and also backstage for our Glam Africa Lifestyle Corner with the young and beautiful Ghanaian presenter, Regina van-helvert of GhOne Television operated by EIB Network.
There wasn’t enough time to waste, the show delayed a bit but started at exactly a few minutes after 10 pm, it was also a blessing for up and coming musicians as they were given the chance to exhibit their talents to the world. Then came the moments for billed acts the like Fancy Gadam, Kuami Eugene, Kidi, King Promise, Yaa Pono, Patapaa, and then Stonebwoy from the Ghanaian corner. They were followed swiftly by Dice Ailes who was joined by Kwesi Arthur, Medikal to perform his hit single ‘Otodela’, Mayorkun came after him, Mr Eazi was next from Nigeria. Wizkid was the last act on the night and he made sure that spot was utilized well by surprising the audience by bringing Ghana’s Shatta Wale (wasn’t originally on the bill) to perform, and Nigeria’s female vocal powerhouse, Tiwa Savage.
It was a memorable show by all standard and we are looking forward to next year. Browse through our gallery below for more from ‘Ghana Meets Naija 2018’.
