On the surface, African fashion industry appears to be doing well, which is a good sign for its lovers. To keep this momentum going, the depth must be equipped with the necessary information, tools and knowledge. We won’t be able to compete with the outside world now, even though, we have had visionary fashion designers come from the continent and push the boundaries of the international market. One truth still remains untold – there is a lot to be done.
We need more shows like the Fashions Finest Africa which seeks nothing but the true interest and growth of emerging designers, fashion speakers, marketers, vendors and also the giving the experts of the industry the platform to share their knowledge and teach these groups of fashion enthusiasts the necessary mechanism needed to be a collective force to reckon with.
For this and many other reasons, experts in the fashion industry such as Ohimai Atafo, Morin Obayweya, Chris Oputa and Mrs Funmi Ajila-Ladipo had a masterclass session with a gathering to officially open the show on May 23 & 24, 2018 at NEPC Training Facility, Lagos before the main show which included exhibition and runway with the designers kicked off on May 25, 27 and 28, 2018.
