Soon most Instagram users will no longer see their likes anymore on the micro picture and video sharing platforms.
Instagram announced the decision to roll out the global phase of hiding likes on Thursday, November 14, 2019. The brand started the new initiative in a few selected countries, including Australia, Brazil and Canada, and added the United States to the list, not long ago.
In a statement from a spokesperson for Facebook (owners of Instagram), the social networking company revealed that the testing is a fundamental change to the platform, hence, this will enable the company to learn more from it worldwide community. Users that are part of the test won’t be able to see the total number of likes and views on posts in their feeds but will see that on their own posts.
However, users will be able to double-tap on posts in their feeds to like them, even though this has led to the conversation around the effect it will have on influencers who generate money from the platform, Instagram made it clear, it is only in the test stage, and it’s finding ways to continue to make influencers have fluid-flow of communication with their partners.
