Issa Rae is giving the entertainment industry all of her creative works through music and television shows.
The multifaceted creator of Insecure and Awkward Black Girl has partnered with Warner Media to bring her new show, Rap Sh*t which is in the works to the media company’s yet to be launch streaming platform, HBO Max.
Warner Media announced the partnership and the working title to millions of followers on social media. HBO Max will be officially launched in May 2020, but Issa Rae and Warner Media have agreed for the show to be officially premiered on the streaming platform.
Rap Sh*t follows the story of a Florida-based female rap group who are attempting and giving off their best to make a career in the music industry. Issa Rae will executive produce the show, she is also working on other shows including Sweet Life – a tale of black teens growing up in Windsor Hills, and Him or Her – which focuses on the romantic life of a bisexual black man, both shows coming to HBO.
Issa Rae and Atlantic Records announced their new record label, Raedio, earlier in October to be headed by Rae, the label has already signed Boston-born and Los Angeles-based Haitian-American pop and RnB singer, TeaMarrr, she out with her first single titled Kinda Love via the label. Rae has been highly praised for constantly giving black creatives the chance to shine using her platforms and projects, she is also the new voice of Google Assistant.
