Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa has for the first time opened up on her experiences from battling with a fibroid, undergoing surgery and the gradual process of healing. The author of ‘On Becoming’ made the revelation through her YouTube channel detailing the stages she went through from being diagnosed about 7 years ago.
Her status as one of the best media personalities in Nigeria coupled with all her other works makes it hard for people to pin her down and start talking about her surgery. Her journey to recovery included engaging in activities like listening to music, watching movies, drinking more water and regularly pushing herself out the comfort zone.
