American musician of Nigerian descent, Jidenna, born Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, released his new studio album ’85 To Africa’ in August.
Ever since the album came out, he has been touring certain parts of America with listening sessions and also putting concerts together for it. The album predominately features records that tell the African story, from culture, history and general lifestyle with main collaborators including Mr Eazi, Seun Kuti, GoldLink, and St. Beauty & Mereba on songs like Zodi, Worth the Weight, Babouche and The Other Half respectively.
His latest concert was held in New York where he brought out veteran Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, the two shared the stage together and entertained their fans with the smashing hit single Particula, by Major Lazer. The song featured on Major Lazer’s 2017 album titled Give Me Future.
Ice Prince & Jidenna shared moments from the concert expressing gratitude to the fans and also to each other for putting up a sterling performance.
Jidenna has been on a mission to educate the world on Afro Culture, the beauty of Africa and the general acceptance of African music on the global stage. He uses his fashion sense, which is mainly seen with his African print worn to many of the shows including the ’85 to Africa’ tour of New York and also to various interviews to prove a point.
He is signed to Janelle Monáe’s Wondaland Records label, which has a distribution deal with Epic Records. He caught the attention of the music world in 2015 with Classic Man released via Wondaland Record Label.
