Khosi Nkosi did it again. The fashion brand was at this years Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Johannesburg, and she made sure that everyone was reminded why they must attend fashion shows in Africa. As Glam Africa we expected no less from the multi-award winning Khosi Nkosi brand as the brand has always maintained its heritage identity which is pertinent in these changing times for Africa. The Modern Day Makoti spring/summer collection is Khosi Nkosi’s latest collection. The name takes its origin from the Nguni word, Makoti, which refers to a new bride.
The collection offers a range of African culture bridal wear and ready to wear. The audience at MBFWJ2017 was particularly moved by to see different African cultures being catered to in the product range including Xhosa culture, Basotho culture and the Tsonga culture too. Modelling and representing the Xhosa designs was new Mrs Zizo Tshwete formally known as Zizo Beda. Zizo, a local loved television personality, was the perfect model and representative of the collection as she herself is a new Xhosa bride hailing from the Eastern Cape, South Africa, which is home to the Xhosa cultures and many freedom fighters including President Nelson Mandela.
What one can expect from the new Khosi Nkosi’s is a fusion of African culture, contemporary, trendy and feminine allure. The collection offers a variety of colours and African prints while also creating clothes that have an incredible fit for all. The collection is not simply for the cultures it is inspired by but, as Khosi Nkosi puts it, a Strong, Modern, Worldly, Nubile woman that loves and respects herself and pays attention to detail.
The brand is colourful and the clothes are the perfect fusion of traditional and modern tastes. The Khosi Nkosi collection will be in YDE stores from September 2017.
