While we are still excited about Lupita Nyong’o and John Boyega‘s Star Wars gig, we can now count down to Lupita being on our screen again but this time, with British/ Nigerian actor, David Oyelowo. The Queen of Katwe is a film by Mira Nai, one which shares Phiona Mutesi’s true life story. The biographical drama follows the life of a young girl who made a living by selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda until her world takes a rapid turn when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, with the support of her family and community, she gains the confidence to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
We have been anticipating this since last year, when we shared a photograph of Lupita while in Uganda to shoot this film, hence, we were so excited when the first image from the film was released yesterday.
