Uk-Based Nigerian health expert, Funke E. Adeniji has combined all her experiences working in the sector into one book titled The Truth About Health Exposed aimed as inspiring and giving people hope to do away with certain myths that surround faith and health.
Most of her encounters are common with patients from the African and African Caribbean communities who are also considered to be at high risk of several chronic diseases, but, often refuses to take medications because of their belief that faith alone is adequate enough to heal them even after diagnosis.
Her involvement in roles within the National Health Scheme (NHS) and knowledge in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), as well as Master of Science in Global Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has broadened her scope on health-related issues and how best to balance that with everyday life without allowing religion to interfere with it.
The Truth About Health Exposed is a holistic guide from her personal experiences and interviews she had with other trained experts such as psychologists, researchers and policymakers to tackle physical, mental and social well-being of every individual. She also uses her podcast The Ma Titia Podcast to address several topics in the book.
Furthermore, as a sports enthusiast and qualified basketball coach, Funke has established her own non-profit organization; the Women’s Elite Sports Empowerment Initiative (WESIE), to promote better health within her community. She will be channelling proceeds from the book back into the organization to continue to better the lives of others.
