Her memoir Becoming is filled with her personal lifestyle during her term at the White House, and how she found her own voice growing up. This week at the third annual Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago, the 55-year lawyer answered a direct question on her wedding day, on October 3rd, 1992, the host Isabel Wilkerson asked her: “Was it a beautiful day?” she replied: “Yeah, but it was a hard day”.

Michelle’s father – Fraser Robinson passed away a year to her wedding to Barack Obama “My dad wasn’t there to walk me down the aisle,” she added. “He had just passed. It was bittersweet and I was marrying the man I loved – you know that guy Barack Obama – but dad had died.”
