Nwankwo Kanu brought together African and Arsenal stars at the Hive Stadium in London in a friendly match in The Petrolex Kanu Cup played to raise funds to support his heart Foundation. Since the Nigerian and Arsenal soccer superstar hanged up his boots, he has dedicated his time in working hard to create and provide all the necessary tools needed to carry out heart surgery for children.
”Since retiring from football, the Kanu Heart Foundation has been my biggest passion. It is amazing to be in a position to have helped over 500 children within and outside Nigeria gain access to vital heart operations, having suffered from heart conditions myself but I want to do more”, Kanu explained.
Watch a snippet of the match below:
With a history of him suffering from the heart condition during the earlier stages of his life, Kanu has made this project very dear to his heart and with the full support from his wife, Amara Kanu.
He has his sights set on building Cardiac Centre in the heart of Abuja, this certainly looks like a step in the right direction in planting smiles on the faces of the people that need it the most. Firstly, with the success of the charity soccer game, and hopefully more projects in the pipeline, it only a matter of time that the legend finally gets his results.
