We often anticipate the short lifespan of ‘Made in China’ goods, but I doubt we foresaw this; a Chinese firm faking condoms under brands like Durex, for Kenya. Wow.
“Shanghai police busted an illegal #condom workshop on Tuesday, and confiscated about 3 million fake condoms. The fake goods were all produced inside the well-equipped workshop, and were sold online under big name brands such as Durex and Jissbon to small hotels”, according to Kenya Today
Besides the materials being fake, according to the Shanghai Police Officer on the case, Zhang Wenliang, the products were not just about its fake branding, but were also produced in low quality and had sickening smell.But then three million (3-million) of these fake condoms have been confiscated in Shanghai, so ideally 3million lives have been saved, assuming the rate of 1 condom per person.
