Obi Emelonye, a Nigerian director, is going to be premiering his new boxing film Oxford Gardens on Friday 30th 2016. The film will be shown in the Princess Anne Theatre within the BAFTA headquarters.

The film is about Julius (played by Ngoli Okafor) as an ex-boxer living his life on the edge but in desperate search of redemption. He meets Munachi (played by Ngozi Thompson Igwebike) a young, bubbly girl with a dark secret. A chance meeting on a park bench in Oxford Gardens, one summer afternoon, sets in motion an unlikely friendship and an uplifting journey.

Speaking on the unique storyline, Mr Emelonye said “Boxing films over the years have been very successful globally and they stir potent emotion in audiences. Wrap that up within a heartfelt love story and it takes a real champion to hold back the tears by the time the final bell rings.”
