Anyone who has keenly followed South African media personality and businesswoman, Thando Thabethe has witnessed with her commitment towards creating the brilliant project, Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball Challenge (TTWDNC) to impact society meaningfully.

The project is in its fifth year and this year Thando will be hosting celebrity match on August 9, 2018 at the Klipspruit Sports Centre with other influential figures such as Somizi, Lungile Rada, Zola Nombona, Khanya Mkhangisa, DJ PH, Jimmy Tau, Ms Cosmo, Moneoa, Manaka Ranaka, DJ Fresh, Motlatsi Mafatse, Reason, Nolly Nolz, Thato Molamu and Shugasmaxx under the theme  #PlayItForward. Thando encourages participants to play for a specific issue affecting women that they are passionate about.

“I’m beyond happy and proud to say that this initiative, which has become the highlight of my year, is in its fifth year and will help change the lives of even more women. It’s up to us, men and women, who have a strong voice to raise that voice in support of an equal society where women feel safe and are empowered to reach for their dreams,’’ Thando explains.


The TTWDNC is a fun day aimed at celebrating, empowering and raising awareness around issues facing women. The initiative also raises funds for organisations that support women and has raised R200,000.00 over the last four instalments of the challenge. Women are invited to join the fun by entering themselves or their team, to participate in the challenge on the day, on thandothabethe.com. However, everyone is welcome to the event, which makes for a great family day out: Spectators gain entry to the TTWDNC by making a donation to the events chosen charities.
