Nelson Mandela, a celebrated hero of Africa will continue to reign for many years to come. The late strong and passionate human right fighter, lead the cause of the liberation of South Africans most the black race during the time of the apartheid.

He was sentenced to prison, returned to become the first black president of the country. Each year, on July 18, the Nelson Mandela day is marked with lectures from world leaders, this year’s keynote speaker is President Barack Obama .

Even before the big day could arrive, citizens of the country have joined forces using about 4000 blankets to produce a very large blanket in honour of their hero.

It will later be dismantled and distributed to deprived communities in South Africa. Watch a clip of the blanket below:
