Young writers in the continent are now understanding the essence of channelling the authentic stories from Africa to the world.
Rwandan writer, Samuel Ishimwe, 27, did portray the Africa story in his film – ‘Imfura’. The film tells the story of Gisa who is caught between the Genocide-era after his mother disappeared and the conflict in his family.
The film picked the ‘Silver Bear Jury Prize’ in the short film category at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival held from February 15 to 25. Therefore making history as the first Rwanda film to have competed on the world stage and walked home with an award. The Berlin International Film Festival Is counted among the largest film festivals around the world.
Samuel Ishimwe works as a journalist and photographer and has had the chance to attend several film festivals and workshops.
