The days are drawing closer as we prepare for the fifth edition of the Lagos Theatre Festival (LTF) from February 27 to March 4, 2018. The special theme for this year’s event is ‘Theatre in Unconventional Spaces’, with the main focus also being on presenting innovative interpretations of new ideas that will inspire, challenge audiences, and new works that will bring up conversations and debates around the theatre industry in Nigeria.
Here is what to expect from the Lagos Theatre Festival 2018:
The event will host over 600 artists, 100 performances at 12 different venues. All these activities are for the many lovers and enthusiasts of theatre in Africa.
Organizers have made sure you get everything you are interested in plus more when you get to the festival, 6 curated shows, 37 fringe shows to pick from. The line up includes shows like ‘Esther’s Revenge’ by PawStudios – this will be the first time it will be soon, ‘Naked’ by Lala Akindoju, ‘Bridezilla’ by Women in Arts, ‘3some’ by Jude Idada, ‘Strelitzia’ by Donna Ogunnaike, ‘Don’t Drop The MIC’ – ‘Open MIC Night’ among others.
It is apparent that the shows cut across diverse theatre genres from different production companies within and outside Nigeria. This is another opportunity for theatre lovers, families and visitors to explore and appreciate the works of storytellers, artists, and celebrate Nigeria’s heritage.
