Oh yes its back again! That ever boomeranging (yes I said boomeranging) 70s trend is back on the scene. Through global Fashion Week earlier this year, various designers were keen to pay tribute to the decade with collections consisting of pieces inspired and based on the era. Designers including the likes of Emilio Pucci, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
Now what makes this season’s tribute to the 70s so much more exciting than in previous years may be due to the fusion of bohemian chic, glamour and simplicity, and yes, all three are possible. Gucci exemplified this in his ensembles featured during the FW SS15.
The 70’s flared trousers are oh so très chic. However ladies, let’s not fall into the misconception that flares were all that time was about. The 70’s were a very playful time. Who’s up for an A-line mini? Or pretty frock in floral prints and warm nudes that show off that feminine attitude. Considering the hard work we’ve put in throughout the winter months to get summer time ready, it’s only right we show off the results.
High waists are definitely the place to start, anything from high waisted jeans, skirts and shorts, even skinny belts goes.
Staying true to the time designers have also incorporated a medley of materials, fabrics and details to bring out that 70’s vibe so be prepared for suedes, fringing, bold, clashing prints with metallics and beads. The suede take over is huge this season ladies! Completely encapsulating the whole 70s vibe. The suede texture further adds a nice twist to the mix and incorporates the bohemian vibe.
Who knows you may just become tempted by the 70’s takeover and swayed into a little tribute to the time of your own….
